We are proud of our school counselors and their dedication to our students!

Over the next several weeks during guidance lessons students will learn how to help manage their emotions which can improve relationships and academic performance. This week introduces the relationship between the “thinking part” and the “feeling part” of the brain. When emotions are really strong it can be difficult to use the “thinking part” of the brain and emotions can run the show unless steps are taken to calm down.

Congratulations to Mrs. Humphries, our February “Spotlight Staff Member of the Month”! Mrs. Humphries is hard working and goes above and beyond the call of duty. She is very positive and caring to all of the students at Shanklin. Thank you for all that you do!

The February Principal's Student of the Month is Makayla Busto, a 3rd grader at Shanklin Elementary. Makayla is always polite and courteous to her peers and to the staff. Congratulations for being a shining star!

Luling ISD celebrates Black History Month! Our schools will highlight the history and contributions of African Americans throughout February.

TODAY

Students have been learning about empathy, which is understanding how others feel. This week’s guidance lesson teaches students how to move from not only feeling empathy but taking action and showing compassion toward others. Saying something kind or asking someone if they need help are two simple ways students have been challenged to show compassion for others and foster an inclusive school environment.

REMINDER

This is a great time to practice the self-management skill of intentionality. Challenge your students to be intentional by creating a social-emotional learning At Home: #GOAL list for this new year!

This FRIDAY, 1/29, Primary Campus will release at 11:50. Elementary, JH and HS will release at 12:00. Teachers and Staff will have planning time in the afternoon.

The City of Luling, St. David's Foundation, Kaboom, and Luling ISD students worked to create an amazing new playscape at Blanche Square Park! We are so proud of our students and their collaboration with the wonderful people that made this happen for our city.

We are beginning a new year and if you are thinking about making resolutions for 2021, use the S.M.A.R.T. acronym to set yourself up for attainable goals!

Luling ISD appreciates our dedicated Board of Trustees who volunteer to serve all students and staff in the Luling schools. We thank them and recognize their commitment to student success!

This week’s counselor's guidance lesson teaches the importance of respecting differences, discovering similarities, and practicing empathy with one another. These are excellent lifelong social skills that promote a more positive and inclusive learning environment for all.

The National Weather Service has updated the hourly forecast for our area, and is now calling for freezing temperatures during the early morning hours. In the interest of safety for our students, staff, and parents, Luling ISD will operate under a 2 hour delay. Schools will start at 10am on Monday, January 11th.
