As part of the Gerdes Junior High No Place for Hate initiative, students are learning the definitions of biases, stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination in order to examine the relationships between these concepts. Misinformation can cause biased thinking which has the potential to lead to discriminatory actions. Raising awareness is one of the best ways to prevent injustices. #NoPlaceforHate

The Luling ISD December ENews is here!

The December Principal's Student of the Month is Kaden Deleon, a third grader, at Shanklin Elementary. Kaden always has a positive attitude in every situation and is the first one to volunteer for school activities. Congratulations for being a shining star!

In the counselor's guidance lesson this week during specials, Shanklin students are learning to become "detectives" and using clues such as body language and situational awareness to recognize other people’s feelings. Understanding how other people feel is an important life lesson that improves communication and empathy in all relationships.

It is an unusual year due to coronavirus disruptions. Nevertheless, one thing has not changed, parents need to complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application for their child(ren)! This is important data, because it can impact school funding from federal grants that help schools educate all students!

Thank you IBC Bank!!

Having fun in ACE after learning time! We have spots open in Junior High and we’d love for students to join the ACE program. We do cooking, robotics, arts and crafts, and all kinds of fun stuff in ACE. It’s way more fun than playing on devices and watching TV in the afternoons, plus you have help with your homework and getting better in reading and math! Contact Satriani Carrillo at Gerdes Junior High if you are interested.
